The Book

By Becky White - dwhite@camden.net

I climbed the attic stair,
To see what I could find up there.
I searched all around,
And guess What I found:
I found a big trunk,
That opened with a thunk!

I found lots of books,
That had long lost their good looks.
I looked for a book that I hadn't read,
Then a voice inside me said:
"Look in the bottom, not at the top,
Just keep looking, and do not stop."

So this voice I did heed,
And found a good sized book to read.
The cover was gone
And so was the title.
For all I know,
It looked like the Bible
There were adventures of Sam,
And brother, named Nephi;
Of Laman, of Lemuel, and father named Lehi.

The next day there were two men at my door,
Holding the book I had read before.
They said it was true, I knew when I read it;
The Spirit was strong, and I'll never forget it.
