A PSALM OF SUSAN
by S. Lythgoe
O Lord my God, when I ponder upon all the things that thou doest for me, I am lead to recognise my own
humility and weaknesses.
Thou provideth the earth that I dwell upon, the air that I breathe, the clothes that I wear, the food that I eat. I do
nothing, I achieve nothing, I am nothing without thy blessing.
Thou strengtheneth me each day, that I may live that day. Thou protecteth me in my weakness, and in my
vulnerability. thou carriest me through mine hardships, and helpeth me to meet the challenges of this life. Thou
cushioneth me against the buffetings and tempests of Satan.
Thou forgivest mine iniquities, and showest me how to forgive those who do wrong against me.
Thou weepest when I weep, and rejoiceth when I rejoice.
Thou art ahead of me, lighting my path, creating footprints in which to plant mine own feet, leading me in the way
that I should go.
Thou art behind me, helping when I stumble, and gently nudging me when I inadvertently wander from the
path.
Thou grantest me all the righteous desires of my heart.
Thou art my Saviour and my Redeemer.
Thou art my Father and my Brother.
Thou art my Master and my Best Friend.
Thou art there, always, and wilt never let me down. In thee I can place my whole trust, and my faith, and give
to thee my heart, knowing that thou wilt not betray me, nor wilt thou break my heart.
Thou knowest the end from the beginning, thou knowest all things and endureth all things.
Thou wilt always lead me in righteousness, and will never bring me to harm.
Though mortality may maim and even destroy this body, yet my soul is eternal, and I will one day worship at thy
feet in this body, made perfect by thy love.
Thou art good, kind, patient, gracious, long-suffering, in fact all the things that I long to be, and I know that if I
follow thee, and live my life as thou hast shown me how, I, too , can be like thee, one day.
I know that by obeying thee, and walking with thee, I can have peace in my heart, even though there may be
turmoil and strife in the world around me.
My heart is filled with love for thee; there are not the words to thank thee enough for all that thou doest for
me.
Yea, though I walk thy path, and serve thee all the days of my life, yet I can never show enough gratitude for all
the blessings that abound in my life from thee.
I love thee, I adore thee, I worship thee; I long for the day when I can kneel at thy feet and thank thee for thy love
for me.
All glory to the Father, Amen.
