A nice little story
An elderly man got on to a bus with a bouquet of flowers. He sat down next to a plain looking young woman. He saw her eyeing the beautiful arrangement. She had never been given flowers before and thought how lucky
that woman was to receive those flowers. Well the old man asked, "Would you like to have these flowers?" The young woman said, "Oh no. I couldn't take those." the old man said, "They were for my wife. But I know she would rather have you take them." The old man persisted. Finally, the young woman took the bouquet as the elderly man walked off the bus and toward the cemetery.
Match made in heaven...
Hello, my name is Katie and my story started in March 1996. I had always heard a lot about the internet and all the cool sights that can be found by surfing around finding new things. Well, after only having the internet for
about a week I stubbled upon your LDS Friendship Worldwide page. As I browsed through the profiles of several guys around my age I came upon one that caught my attention immediately. I read through it and found out his name was Ryan, where he lived, and when he planned on going on a mission. The thing that made him very interesting to me was that it said that he planned on attending USU which is very close to where I live. I had never written anyone that I didn't know before hand so I found it a new experience for me.
When I wrote him it sounded so much like he was suppose to know me that he wrote back wondering if he should know me from somewhere. I explained how he didn't but I would like him to. We wrote back and forth for about a month before we exchanged pictures through the regular post office mail system. When I recieved a photo of him I thought that I had died and gone to heaven since he was so incrediablly handsome!! He lives in the same town that my sister does so I arranged with my mother to drive down there to see him. We finally got to meet face to face May 18-19, 1996. It is amazing how we became instant friends as if we had known each other from some where.
I spent all of Saturday evening and some of Sunday with him before my mother and I had to drive the four hours to get back home. I will never forget the way that he looked into my eyes and made me feel like we were the only two people in a world that could pass by and as long as we were with each other it didn't matter. I think that the hardest moment in my life was having to say good-bye not knowing when i would see him again but I promised that I would go to his farewell even if I have to sacrifice to get down there. Out of pure luck he is coming to up and we will spend how ever many hours we have together just enjoying each others company like we did at our first meeting. We have continued to email each other talking about the future and the possibility of what might be. We both feel strong feelings towards each other and it will be hard to have to mail each other through the post office but it will be worth it to keep the line of communication open. I would like to thank this sight for bringing us together and making my life so much happier!!
It is a wonder how someone can put their name and email address on page to be found by a total stranger who writes back to become two love stricken people who only dream of one day being together for eternity.
Thank you for helping me to find my real life prince charming that can make
all my dreams come true!!
Sincerely, Katie
William Arnold Jones - A Conversion
I joined the church as a married man of 24. I had attended the church of my parents. The Primitive Baptist Church in Union Co. Tn. It is very much like the puritan churches of old and still pride themselves for being so.
I dreamed one night of Christ while visiting my grandmother' home. I saw him so vividly, that I awoke crying as a young boy of 7 would. I explained it to my parents and grandparents and they suggested I talk with our pastor. He, of course suggested that this was the expereice that the puritans were so in search of. I joined the church and even came to serve in the church leadership not as a pastor but a delegate to associations, somewhat
like our conferences. I became, as a young man, dissatisfied with the teachings of that church. I somehow knew that the teachings left out much, that the full gospel was much more precise and broader than the primitive
Baptist. I started to major in philosophy in college and graduated with a degree in philosophy and religon. I found nothing there that explained to my satisfaction the questions that haunted me. "What happened to the
temple, what became of the preisthood of Old testament and early church, and a full belief that the attonement came in the garden, not on the cross.
I also strongly believed that Christ and God were two different personages I received much ridicule in this area who had never heard of, much less knew of Mormons.
I had picked up a book at my mom's in college (I collected books) and it said The Book Of Mormon. I carried it with me through many moves I had tried to read it but could not focus on it but I never left it behind
Then after talking with the "Jesus Freaks" and Hare Kirishna (remember them?) I and my wife were at the fair in Knoxville and I saw a booth that the Knowville now stake had set up. I told my wife I want to talk to these people I have one of their books and I want to know about it. <smile> I asked them, "would you tell me about your church?" Boy, did I make their day! They said they might, and they proceeded to answer all the questions with answers that I knew was right. . . answers to those questions. The missionaries came to our home and taught us. Elder Alred from Alred Idaho, we were baptised and two years later sealed in the Washington D.C. Temple.
I can not write these lines without weeping, even some 20 years later. I love this church and the people in it. Just talking with them you get this warm glow and tears well up in your eyes and you know that you stand
in the presence of one of the Lord's own. They are indeed a chosen people. And I, out here not so close to the thick of the action, can see clearly these traits. I am very proud to be a Mormon and love the church very much.
I hope that each person that is in this church can understand what I am trying to say . I love all of you and want to take this opportunity to say thank-you for having me in your midist.
Thank YOU, Heavenly Father for this gift

How it worked for us!
You wanted to know the story about how the Mormon Match Makers listing worked for my fiancee and I. I put my listing up on the program in early December of last year. Cherie was visiting a friend for Christmas and her friend had seen the listings. She looked at the listing at the insistence of her friend. She went kicking and screaming as she puts it. Her friend wrote me a note to tell me how special this good Sister was and that she thought we might have some things in common. I wrote to Cherie and we exchanged photos. We both liked what we seen in each other and started to corres ond via snail mail. She had sent small notes to all of the single Brothers in the listings and when she received my letter with the photo in it she said she just knew that I was the
one. I had been praying for the Lord to send me a help meet and companion and when I seen her photo and
